Scriptures in Sign Language | 2nd Sunday of Lent
Members of the mystical body of Christ are producing the Scriptures in Sign Language. ASL Catholic Media and the Archdiocese of Washington do a terrific job transliterating. Signing the Scriptures in ASL is a great way to evangelize.
Fr. Mike Depcik offers his gospel reflection explaining the scriptures in sign language. He has been spreading the gospel in many media outlets for years. He also travels near and far to reach Deaf and Hard of Hearing Catholic Communities. Because of his zealous spirit he is kind of like or has become, a world wide shepherd to the Deaf. May God bless him abundantly!
Thanking those who Deaf ministry in the Church ought be done more often. Particularly, ASL Catholic Media and ADW Deaf and Disabilities ministry. Why is this? Well, because every Catholic Church interpreter now has a resource of what their job should look like in ASL. But not only do interpreters are to thank these mentioned ministries, but every lector who signs the scriptures in ASL. The above ministries spend hours of their time to ensure the gospel message is dynamically equivalent to the printed text. Signing the Scriptures ASL
Signing the Scriptures ASL are two great ministries and a priest bearing witness to the gospel. This week the Archdiocese of Washington Deaf and Disabilities Ministry has provided a splendid professional video in ASL. Catholic Churches throughout the United States and beyond ought look to ADW of how to provide mass readings in American Sign Language in their respective diocese and surrounding areas.
We commend ASL Catholic Media for their fidelity to the gospel and providing many spiritual treasures in American Sign Language. The Catholic and Christian Deaf community at large is grateful! Every Christian Deaf Bible study ought to find comfort in your work.

Many Deaf organizations like to have ASL students help with ASL 4 or above completed. But, all are welcome. Eucharistic Miracle Retold in ASL- St. Peter Damian, Italy. “This miracle happened in St Peter Damian, Italy in 1050. A witch gave a horrible suggestion to a woman and asked her to get a consecrated Host from church and take it home to use it for sorcery. The woman went to get communion and she hid the Host in her hand but the priest noticed her walking away and he went and stopped her. He asked her to show him. He took the Host in the white linen cloth away from her. He went back to his church and when he opened the cloth and was surprised that half of the Host now was visible of Christ’s Body (flesh) and the other half looked normal. God wanted to win over an unbeliever who refused to accept the Real Presence of Christ, the Eucharistic mystery.”

ASL Catholic Media is one of the best Deaf ministry outlets on the internet. This Deaf ministry respects American Sign Language and Deaf cultural norms. The grammar, syntax, prosidy, facial expressions, and role shifting are all present and done well.
ASL students and interpreters are to greatly benefit from ASL C.M. The prayers, the mass, the Catholic signs are provided for all to memorize and use at church and elsewhere. Take for example, today’s post “The Sorrowful Mysteries prayed in American Sign Language | Deaf Catholic.” You learn the Apostles creed in ASL, the Our Father in ASL, the Glory Be in ASL, the Hail Mary in ASL, and the closing prayers in American Sign Language. This is a great resource.
