Our Deaf Confirmation program

Our Confirmation program is a two-year journey for our high school teens to explore our beautiful Catholic faith in a experiential way. The process is developed to help them learn about our faith, grow in wisdom and discipleship. Moreover, we encourage discernment of what personal identity in Christ means.

Partnered closely with the parents and family we are here to support you in passing on the faith to the next generation. We pray that our newest disciples of Jesus Christ become fully initiated members of our Catholic church.

Our Deaf ministry Confirmation Program are on Tuesday evenings from 9:30am-11:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall. More info on the upcoming year including the calendar will be available soon!

Our sacramental preparation for the Deaf is multicultural. Deaf Anglo, Deaf Latino, Deaf Korean, Deaf Vietnamese, Deaf Filipino…etc. Regardless of where we come from we work with each family and child.

Our teachers, instructors, catechists are all proficient if not fluent in American Sign Language. We do accept ASL 4 students or above to volunteer in our Confirmation program for the Deaf. We also accept interpreting students who are practicing Catholic needing credit hours for school.

What is unique about Deaf ministry program is that family members have options on Sundays. They can all attend and be part of our religious education classes on Sundays and throughout the week. Or, they may participate in different religious classes or masses to suit their individual spiritual needs within the same time frame. For example, parents who are Spanish or English speaking can attend mass while their children are in class. Furthermore, ideally parents would take the opportunity on Sundays to learn American Sign Language at the time their children are receiving sacramental preparation. And we do offer ASL classes for parents who do not know sign language.

Yes, even though this is a Confirmation program for the Deaf. It is very much a program for their parents to learn sign language to build and foster a better relationship overall as a family.

Please visit or call the Christ Our Savior parish office for more details.
